The mission of the MQOH Web Team is to provide timely communication to the parish and general public in an engaging, attractive and user-friendly way.
Current roles include:
Webmaster – This person serves to coordinate the Web Team by acting as the go-to resource for Web Team members and the general Web resource for all parish ministries. This person needs to have good organizational skills and sufficient knowledge of websites to address issues and find solutions, as needed.
Technical Support – This person focuses on ensuring the website runs smoothly with no technical issues. As issues arise, this person will address and solve all technical challenges. This person needs to have a sufficient understanding of websites including WordPress, HTML, CSS, hosting, and FTP uploads, etc. to successfully manage coding and/or any technical issues.
Banner Editor – This person focuses solely on updating the slider (rotating banner) on the main page of the website. This person does not need graphic design experience. Rather, they focus on adding text and images to already designed graphics using online, no-cost graphic software. This person should be very comfortable with a computer and interested in learning how to use the on-line software if he/she does not already have such skills.
Bulletins Editor – This person is focused solely on adding the weekly bulletin in PDF format to the website for download. This person will use FTP software to upload the bulletins. These skills can be taught to an interested person who is comfortable using the computer. This person should be committed to ensuring the bulletin is uploaded every week.
Calendar Editor – This person focuses solely on updating the Calendar providing day, date, time and location for every parish event. This person should be detailed and organized enough to handle multiple incoming emails and willing to learn the WordPress interface and My Calendar plug-in. These skills can be taught to an interested person who is comfortable using the computer. Generally, this role is assigned to a parish staff member.
Graphics Editor – It would be great to have a trained graphics designer who could create engaging and attractive art to be used throughout the site. In the case that a trained graphics person is not available, this person would comb the Internet for such images that are available for free and with an appropriate license to ensure MQOH is not in violation of any copyright laws. In addition, this person coordinates with the parish photographer to use as many parish photos as possible. So, potentially, this person does not need any graphics training, just comfort with a computer and a desire to learn how to add the images to the website, as needed.
Content Editor – This person would be focused solely on the text of the website, ensuring that changes reflect updated information such as ministry heads, adding text on upcoming events when a separate web page is required, etc. This person should be detailed and organized enough to handle multiple incoming emails and willing to learn the WordPress interface. Familiarity with AP Style is helpful, as is being comfortable with a computer. All text changes are made within the WordPress interface.
Pastor’s Corner Editor – This person is solely focused on typing the Pastor’s Corner each week using the WordPress platform. This person should be a fairly good typist with an eagle’s eye for mistakes and comfortable with a computer. All entries are made through the WordPress interface. The WordPress skills can be taught to an interested person.
Youth Ministry – This person would focus solely on overseeing all sections of the Youth Ministry web pages (Prayers, Happenings, Contact, Events, etc.) This person is the liaison to the Web Team from Youth Ministry and will forward needed changes to Calendar and Content Editors.
Flock Notes – This person is focused solely on managing the FlockNote account and ensuring it feeds properly to the MQOH website. Duties include granting/updating admin access, training ministry heads and serving as the parish resource for FlockNote. This person should be computer savvy and willing to learn FlockNote.
