How did this contempt for human life insinuate itself into people’s hearts?

It’s been barely a week since the most sickeningly bizarre events took place in the New York State Capital Building. Faux-Catholic, Governor Cuomo, purposely, on the anniversary of the infamous Roe v. Wade decision, signed the most barbaric and permissive abortion bill ever conceived. A friend texted me a “You-Tube” video of the TV coverage that showcased a packed New York Senate chamber, filled to the brim with pro-abortion legislators and observers. This packed house, unbelievably, burst into several-minutes-long raucous cheering and applause the moment Gov. Cuomo signed their virtually limitless abortion provisions into state law. I was literally nauseated by this extended, perverted outburst of joy over something so profoundly evil. The governor then directed that the spire on the new One World Trade Center be bathed in Pro-Death pink, as well as several bridges there in the State Capitol of Albany.

A pro-life professor, Robert George, after watching a video of the wild demonstration, expressed, “What kind of people are we? How can so many be utterly blind to such gross and manifest evil? These people were cheering. They were actually cheering! Where did this fanatical commitment to ensuring that the lives of children in the womb count for nothing (indeed less than nothing) come from? How did this contempt for human life insinuate itself into people’s hearts?” Evil certainly does present itself as mysterious, but the “father of evil’, we all know, is Satan himself. Satan was obviously having a victory party in Albany, New York. Cuomo is the same man that, last
Fall, announced that he was “in solidarity with Pope Francis” and that he was going to end the death penalty in New York. Think about that! Cuomo claims to be with Pope Francis on not giving lethal injections to convicted murderers…but…innocent unborn babies? Well that’s a different story.

As I mentioned a week ago, upon returning from the largest-ever, Washington D.C. Pro-life March, filled with hope… even if the horrendous Roe v Wade decision is overturned by our current Pro-Life, Federal Government Administration, the issue will simply revert to the state government’s laws. And, most states have drawn up laws far more permissive than Roe v Wade itself. Our own State of Florida abortion laws rank up there with the most permissive in the country. New York, however, now has the bragging rights for having absolutely “the most ghoulish radical abortion-expansion law”, as New York’s Cardinal Dolan remarked.

Cardinal Dolan said that “Gov. Cuomo has insulted the Church, flaunting publicly, his dissent from Catholic doctrine.” He went on to decry this so-called ‘Reproductive Health Act’, noting that “it allows for abortion right up to the moment of birth; drops all charges against an abortionist who allows an aborted baby, (who somehow survives the scissors, scalpel, saline and dismemberment) to die before his eyes; mandates that, to make an abortion more convenient and easy, a physician need not perform it; and might even be used to suppress the conscience rights of healthcare professionals who refuse to assist in this grisly procedure.” “All of this in a state
that already had the most permissive abortion laws in the country.” Those who once told us…that abortion needs to remain safe, legal and rare… have now made it…Dangerous, Imposed and Frequent! Our prayers to end abortion are more important than ever, and Mary has continually pleaded with us to pray a Rosary every day. Let us pray!

On a significantly more up-beat note, as mentioned at Mass last weekend, the new Catholic movie…Garabandal: Only God Knows , is premiering this weekend in Jacksonville, at the Regal Theatre on south Phillips Highway, less than a mile north of 295. The dates are Saturday, February 2nd thru Wednesday, February 6th with four showings daily (1:30pm, 4:15pm, 7:00pm and 9:50pm). I am encouraging as many parishioners, as can arrange it, to join me at the 1:30 PM show this Sunday afternoon, February 3rd. I have offered to buy (personally) popcorn for all who can make that 1:30 showing. If you cannot make that show, please arrange to catch one of the other showing times. This is a profoundly inspirational film. It documents what is referred to in the Church as “Private Revelation” just as our Lady’s appearances at Fatima, Lourdes, and Medjugorje are. A Catholic film, it has received rave reviews and is appropriate for the whole family. I hope you have the opportunity to view this movie and then share with me how it impacted you.

Mary, Protector of the unborn, pray for us.

Peace,
